GIANTS Head Coach Kevin Sheedy has questioned the value of Kurt Tippett after the club announced it would not select him in next week's pre-season draft.

"At $900,000 we thought we'd let that one go through to the keeper," Sheedy said. "I think that's the right decision."

Asked if he thought he was worth the money, Sheedy said: "I'd just probably love to ask that question to Tony Lockett. He's probably put Sydney on the map and wouldn't have got anywhere near that.

"He (Tippett) would have to do more to be a superstar. That's a huge contract to want but there are a lot of people in the world who are overrated aren't there?

" He's got a lot to prove to earn nearly a million dollars a year. That puts you under a lot of pressure in our game. I don't think the Prime Minister earns $900,000 and she runs the country."

Sheedy said the GIANTS were looking forward to next weeks draft and adding to their list. "I'll find another player who has been left on the shelf that will be just as good as him eventually," he said.
