The potential return of star midfielder Tom Green headlines the GIANTS’ extended squad for Sunday’s clash with the Demons at the MCG.
One of four additions to the round one squad, Green missed the club’s season opening win against the Magpies with a calf injury but has progressed well as he looks to return to action.
Green will need to get through training this Friday in order to take on the Dees on Sunday.
Also added to Sunday’s 26-man squad is 2024 draftees Ollie Hannaford and Cody Angove, as well as athletic defender Leek Aleer.
Hannaford and Angove continue to push for their AFL debuts with strong form in the club’s VFL practice matches, while Aleer is looking to add to his 12 AFL games to date.
The trio were the club’s three emergencies in last week’s big 52-point win over the Pies.
As announced on Tuesday, ruck Kieren Briggs will miss this week’s clash as he progresses through concussion protocols following a heavy knock in last week’s game, with veteran utility Lachlan Keeffe set to fill the void against the Demons.
The GIANTS will name their final team of 23 on Friday at 5pm.
The GIANTS and the Demons will get under way at 3:20pm at the MCG on Sunday afternoon.
