Tom Scully will become the third GIANT to play 100 games for the club when he runs onto UNSW Canberra Oval against Port Adelaide on Saturday.
The hard running midfielder joins teammates Callan Ward and Toby Greene in achieving the personal milestone.
Scully, who joined the GIANTS as an uncontracted player selection in 2011 after 31 games at Melbourne, said he’s enjoyed the journey so far.
“Upon quick reflection, it’s been a great journey so far and one I’ve thoroughly enjoyed,” he said.
The 25-year-old said the brother-like bond that he has formed with his teammates over the last six years has been particularly special part of that journey.
“That core group that has come through together has certainly been through some good time and some rough times, but I think it’s held us in good stead,” Scully said.
“We’ve got a really strong nucleus as a group and obviously over the years, we’ve added to that.
“There is a special bond between those guys that have been here from the start and we’ve noticed immense changes around the football club.
“I suppose it’s something you don’t think of too much now, but later on in life, I’ll reflect on it and it’s a pretty special to be a part of a new club from the start.”
Scully signed a four year contract extension in June last year and with his wedding approaching in October he’s loving life in Western Sydney.
“Life’s pretty good I certainly can’t complain, I love playing football here,” he said.
“It’s a fantastic football club, it’s been well documented that it’s a club on the rise and we feel as players we’re heading in the right direction.”
