The GIANTS will unveil a number of exciting and untried youngsters alongside many of their regular stars in Friday’s match simulation with the Swans at Tramway Oval.
With a squad of 29 named, the GIANTS’ side will feature many of their regular 23, with skipper Toby Greene to lead a side filled with the likes of All-Australian duo Jesse Hogan and Lachie Whitfield, as well as vice-captain Josh Kelly.
Four noticeable inclusions to Friday’s team are untried youngsters Phoenix Gothard, James Leake, Ollie Hannaford, and Cody Angove who will all get their first official taste of AFL action in the match simulation against the Swans.
Gothard and Leake – the club’s two first-round selections from the 2023 AFL Draft – are both fit and firing and will be looking to break through for an AFL debut this season after spending their first year with the club battling respective injuries and illness.
Meanwhile two of the club’s most recent first round picks – Hannaford and Angove – who were taken with pick 18 and 24 respectively – have both been selected to take on the Swans following impressive pre-seasons since arriving at the club in November.
Boom recruit Jake Stringer won’t play on Friday due to illness, while some other familiar faces will miss through injury.
Friday’s match simulation will consist of seven periods, with both the club’s AFL and VFL players to participate.
The match simulation will be exclusively streamed live on Kayo Sports.
