One of the AFL’s most exciting young talents Rory Lobb has re-committed his future to the GIANTS, signing a two year contract extension.
Following a breakout season in which he played every game, Lobb’s new deal will see him remain at the GIANTS until the end of 2019.
After just three years at the elite level, Lobb has developed into one of the best marking players in the competition, taking the second most contested marks in the AFL this season playing as key forward and pairing with Shane Mumford in the ruck.
The 23-year old kicked a career high 29 goals in 2016, forming a dangerous combination with the likes of Jeremy Cameron, Jon Patton, Devon Smith, Toby Greene and Steve Johnson in the forward line.
Having joined the GIANTS as the 29th pick in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft, Lobb said he can see plenty of exciting times ahead for the club.
“I’m really happy to have re-signed with the GIANTS,” said Lobb.
“As a playing group we took some big steps this year and I think there is still plenty of improvement in us which is exciting.
“I’ve grown really close to my teammates and I believe that if we stick together, we can hopefully achieve the ultimate success in the future.”
GIANTS General Manager of Football Wayne Campbell said Lobb’s contract extension is a significant one for the club.
“We’re delighted that Rory has re-committed to the GIANTS,” said Campbell.
“We believe he’s got a really bright future and we see him as a key member of our team in the coming years.
“Like many of our players, he’s taken enormous steps forward this year and it’s terrific that he wants to stay with this group as we aim to continue to climb the AFL ladder.”
Lobb joins a host of team mates who’ve re-committed to the GIANTS this year including Callan Ward, Tom Scully, Shane Mumford, Stephen Coniglio, Lachie Whitfield and Nick Haynes.
