It’s the AFL’s night of nights in Melbourne with the best players in the country coming together for the 2015 Brownlow Medal count.
Representing the GIANTS at the event will be co-captains Callan Ward and Phil Davis along with Jeremy Cameron, Dylan Shiel and All Australian defender Heath Shaw.
The favourite to take out the top honour is courageous Fremantle midfielder Nat Fyfe but there are also some GIANTS tipped to poll well.
According to AFL Media’s Brownlow Predictor the GIANTS’ best performer will be midfielder Dylan Shiel, despite missing the last eight games of the season.
Shiel had a phenomenal start to 2015, which saw him shorten as one of the Brownlow Medal favourites before injuring his knee in round 15 against St Kilda.
The 22-year-old averaged a career-high 26 disposals this season, three marks and five tackles.
He was also named in the AFL Player’s 22Under22 side and ranked seventh in the GIANTS’ Club Champion Award, the Kevin Sheedy Medal.
Shiel is predicted to poll 14 votes, finishing ahead of of fellow midfielders Stephen Coniglio (11 votes) and Callan Ward (9 votes).
Coniglio had his most consistent year to date, playing 18 games predominantly as a run-with midfielder.
Both Shiel and Coniglio put pen to paper this year and re-signed with the GIANTS until at least the end of 2017.
Coverage of the 2015 Brownlow Medal Count kicks off at 8.15pm on 7Mate in NSW/ACT.
