Our Season Summary looks back at how each GIANTS player fared during the 2015 AFL season.
Name: Sam Schulz
Number: 45
2015 Games: 9 NEAFL, 0 AFL
NEAFL Fantasy Average: 53
Awards: Nil
Background: Sam Schulz was one of the first players to sign with the GIANTS in 2010. Schulz made his AFL debut in Round 12, 2012 against Richmond before being rookie-listed at the end of 2013. He has battled a string of injuries in recent years and has not added to his AFL game tally.
Best Game: NEAFL Round 18 v Redland – 23 disposals, four marks, five tackles.
Summary: It was another frustrating season for Schulz which ended in the worst possible way after he ruptured his ACL in the UWS GIANTS’ last match of the home and away season. In his nine NEAFL games, the popular clubman was a proven performer in the midfield despite being unable to string together as many games as he would have hoped.
Pat On The Back: Given the constant setbacks and frustrating injuries, Schulz was nothing short of professional in his rehabilitation and dedication to training.
What They Said: “He (Schulz) just can’t catch a break” - NEAFL Coach Brett Hand
Look Ahead: After having a traditional knee reconstruction in September, Schulz is looking at an extended stint on the sidelines.
