Toby Bedford continued his reign as the GIANTS’ time trial king on Monday after taking out the club’s traditional 2km time trial.
Bedford blitzed the field in scorching conditions on Monday morning as the GIANTS’ entire playing group came together for the first time this pre-season to begin an intense three-week block before the Christmas break.
Winner of multiple time trials since joining the club during the 2022 AFL trade period, Bedford impressed once again as he led from start to finish to cross the line ahead of a strong performance from Ryan Angwin.
Dynamic midfielder Finn Callaghan showed he’s ready for a big summer on the track with a third-placed finish, while tough midfielder/forward Xavier O’Halloran and All-Australian defender Lachie Whitfield rounded out the top five.
After kicking off pre-season with the club’s 1–4-year players last week, Monday’s session saw the GIANTS’ senior group return to the track for the first time, with the traditional 2km time trial kick-starting proceedings.
With a gruelling three-week block followed by a Christmas break, the GIANTS will then return to training early in the new year ready to ramp things up in preparation for an exciting 2025 season.
