The GIANTS have named a strong team to take on last year’s grand final runners-up, North Melbourne, in their official AFLW practice match in Blacktown on Saturday.
Their second and final pre-season hit-out ahead of the upcoming AFLW season, the GIANTS will be led by new captain Bec Beeson and vice-captain Katherine Smith in Saturday’s hit-out with the Kangaroos.
Newcomers Mikayla Pauga, Eilish O’Dowd, Claire Ransom and Kaitlyn Srhoj will also take the field as they continue their push for a round one debut in two weeks’ time against the Western Bulldogs in Canberra.
Established stars Alyce Parker, Nicola Barr and Tarni Evans will also feature, as will last year’s AFLW Rising Star Zarlie Goldsworthy.
Alicia Eva is a notable absence from the GIANTS side, with the former skipper being managed in preparation for the opening round clash with the Bulldogs.
Isabel Huntington will also miss, due to personal reasons, but will be right to go against the Bulldogs in round one.
The GIANTS' squad features 23 players for Saturday’s hit-out, consisting of 16 players on the field, five on the bench, plus two substitutes.
The pre-season clash will kick off at 11am in Blacktown on Saturday and is free entry for all fans. The match will also be live streamed at gwsgiants.com.au.
The GIANTS will kick-start their 2024 campaign with an exciting round one clash with the Western Bulldogs in Canberra on Saturday, August 31.
