The GIANTS continue to lock away their young talent well into the future, with ruck Fleur Davies the latest to sign a three-year contract extension with the club.

Previously signed until the end of the upcoming 2024 NAB AFLW season, Davies has put pen to paper on a long-term extension which will keep her a GIANT until at least the end of the 2027 AFLW season.

The extension comes just days after new vice-captain Katherine Smith and number three pick Kaitlyn Srhoj also signed new three-year deals to join a host of teammates to recently recommit to the club.

Joining the GIANTS from the Gold Coast Suns Academy in 2022, Davies’ deal comes following a strong 2023 campaign which saw the young 185cm ruck play all but one game for the club’s AFLW side.

The 2023 campaign was a meaningful for the 20-year-old who missed the entirety of season seven through a shoulder injury sustained during pre-season, recovering to make her long-awaited AFLW debut for the GIANTS against the Swans in round one of the 2023 season.

GIANTS AFLW coach Cam Bernasconi said it was great to have the young ruck locked away for three more years.

“It’s really exciting news for Fleur who joins a number of players to recently re-commit to the club long term which is a great sign of the environment we have built here at the GIANTS,” he said.

“Fleur has all the tools to be a really strong contributor for our side this season and in years to come and I’m really looking forward to seeing what she can produce in orange and charcoal.”

Fresh off her new deal, Davies will feature in the GIANTS’ official AFLW practice match with the Kangaroos in Blacktown on Saturday at 11am, which is free entry for all fans.

The match will also be live streamed at gwsgiants.com.au.

Davies and the GIANTS will then kick-start their 2024 NAB AFLW season on Saturday, August 31 against the Western Bulldogs in Canberra at Manuka Oval.
