The GIANTS have made five changes to their VFL side for their final game of the home and away season, with Xavier O’Halloran headlining the inclusions for the club’s clash with Williamstown on Saturday.
O’Halloran returns from the AFL side to take on the Seagulls in Victoria, with GIANTS Academy product Riley Hamilton another inclusion alongside Ethan Williams and Mackenzie Allen.
Victorian teenager Ned Byrne also enters the team for his GIANTS’ VFL debut. The 18-year-old is a 184cm forward who hails from Shepparton and who has spent time with the Murray Bushrangers this year.
Conor Stone (AFL) will miss from last week’s VFL side as well as Jacob Wehr who has been ruled out following his heavy collision against the Lions’ VFL side last week.
Marc Sheather (injured), Logan Smith and Tom McCaffrey also exit from last week’s VFL side, while draftee Phoenix Gothard will miss again after failing a fitness test on his sore calf that forced him to be a late out for last week’s VFL match.
The GIANTS’ VFL side will feature 11 AFL-listed GIANTS for Saturday’s stoush with the Seagulls, with the clash to get underway at 12:05pm at DSV Stadium.
Currently a game and percentage outside of the top 10 entering the final round of the season, the GIANTS are still a mathematical chance of making the VFL wildcard round but would need to win by a large margin as well as have a number of other results go their way.
