The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS have congratulated the Sydney Swans on making it to next Saturday's  AFL Grand Final against Hawthorn at the MCG.

Chairman Tony Shepherd said it was a tremendous boost for the game to have a Sydney based team in the Grand Final.

"It's great to see everyone in Sydney get behind the Swans as they prepare for the biggest day of the year. It's been six years since a Sydney team made the Grand Final and we wish everyone at the Swans, particularly John Longmire and the players, all the best for the week ahead," he said.

"There's no doubt the entry of the GIANTS this year had helped build the game in Sydney and Canberra. More than 60,000 people attended the two Sydney derbies between the Swans and the GIANTS and to have the Swans play off in the Grand Final will only help further grow the game in Sydney in years to come."

GIANTS Head Coach Kevin Sheedy has already declared his support for the Swans by donning a Sydney jumper and he will be a special guest at the GIANTS Grand Final lunch in Sydney this Tuesday along with Hawthorn premiership champions Dermott Brereton, Robert Dipierdomenico and former Carlton premiership player and GIANTS List Manager Stephen Silvagni.
