The GIANTS will head to Western Australia without Harry Perryman, Josh Kelly and Lachie Whitfield when they face West Coast this weekend.

Harry Perryman was substituted early in the first quarter of the GIANTS’ comeback win over Adelaide at GIANTS Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with scans confirming a hamstring strain for the 24-year-old.

Head of Medical James Rahme said he expected Perryman to miss at least a month.

“It’s disappointing for Harry to be injured so early in the season,” Rahme said.

“Scans on Monday showed a hamstring strain which we expect will sideline him for four-to-six weeks.”

Lachie Whitfield and Josh Kelly have both entered concussion protocols after being diagnosed with concussion during the GIANTS’ win.

Whitfield was ruled out in the third quarter while Kelly was injured in the fourth quarter and didn’t return to the game.

“We’ll go through the protocols, step by step, and the earliest Lachie and Josh will be available to play will be in round three,” Rahme said.

“The good news is they have both pulled up well following the game, but we’ll take all the necessary precautions.

Jacob Wehr will be available for Sunday’s game after being cleared of concussion during the win over the Crows.

Meanwhile, defender Leek Aleer will also miss Sunday’s clash against the Eagles after being a late withdrawal against the Crows with quad soreness.

Scans on Monday revealed damage to his quad, with the 21-year-old expected to miss the next month.

Ruckman Braydon Preuss will undergo minor back surgery this week after pulling up sore following the GIANTS’ practice match against the Suns.

Preuss has consulted specialists over recent weeks and is expected to return to the field in the next month.

“It’s been frustrating for Braydon, with his most recent injury a flare up of a past back issue,” Rahme said.

“However, recent consultations have given us confidence this is only a small setback. He’ll undergo a minor procedure and we expect to see him back in three or four weeks.”

Fellow ruckman Kieren Briggs has been cleared of injury after sitting out the final quarter of the GIANTS’ VFL practice match against Sydney last weekend with hamstring tightness.

Inaugural GIANTS captain Phil Davis has also avoided serious injury after injuring his left ankle at training last week.

Davis went to jump over a teammate during a one-on-one drill and landed awkwardly, sparking initial fears of a significant setback.

The 32-year-old underwent scans late last week which revealed only minor damage with the veteran expected to be a test to return this weekend.
