The GIANTS will be without Phil Davis and Adam Kennedy when they take on the Brisbane Lions in Canberra on Saturday after the pair were both injured in Saturday night’s clash against Port Adelaide.
Defender Phil Davis suffered a serious hamstring injury, with scans on Sunday revealing a ruptured tendon. The injury is on the opposite side to the hamstring injury that sidelined him across the first half of the season.
The veteran will miss the remainder of the 2022 season, with further consultation with specialists this week to determine the next steps.
GIANTS Head of Medical Services, James Rahme, said:
“We’re gutted for Phil.
“He’s diligent in the way he goes about everything, including his rehab, and it’s disappointing for him given all the work he put in to get back from his last hamstring injury.
“We’re in the process of seeking some specialist opinions this week for a more detailed prognosis, and to determine what the rehabilitation plan looks like for him.”
Fellow defender Adam Kennedy suffered a concussion in the third quarter of the loss to the Power with the 29-year-old to enter the 12-day concussion protocols, which rule him out of this week’s round 18 match.
A month after fracturing four ribs, Harry Perryman will be reassessed later this week to determine the next steps in his rehabilitation process, and a more accurate return to play timeline.
Connor Idun also returns to training this week after missing the Power match through the health and safety protocols.
