The GIANTS will host the Swans at Metricon Stadium on Sunday night in Sydney Derby XXI.

The last 24 hours has seen both teams relocate from Melbourne to Queensland with the next installment of the cross-town rivalry to get underway at 6.10pm on Sunday, July 18.

Speaking about the need to relocate the match from Ballarat earlier in the day, AFL Executive General Manager Clubs and Broadcasting Travis Auld said the changes to the fixture have been made as a result of the evolving situation.

“As I said earlier today, our approach remains to take risk out of the season wherever the opportunity presents and we will continue to make decisions that ensure the season is able to progress during the ongoing pandemic,” Mr Auld said. 

“On behalf of the AFL, I would like to thank the respective State Governments, each Club, players, the AFLPA, families, umpires, broadcast partners, venues and all football fans for their continued patience and understanding as we all continue to navigate this pandemic.”
