The GIANTS will welcome back key defender Phil Davis for his first game in 11 weeks for Saturday night’s clash against Carlton.

Davis is one of three changes to the GIANTS side with versatile backman Harry Perryman and young ruckman Kieren Briggs also returning.

Jake Stein (omitted), Shane Mumford (back) and Lachie Ash (omitted) go out of the side that drew with North Melbourne in Hobart last weekend. Xavier O’Halloran is also listed as an omission having been the medi-sub against the Kangaroos.

Davis returns to the AFL having overcome a calf injury and getting through unscathed in the VFL last weekend.

GIANTS Coach Leon Cameron said he’s looking forward to seeing the club’s former co-captain return.

“Phil’s put together a nice block of training and having got through a reserves match last week, we feel he’s ready to step up and help us against a really dangerous Carlton forward line,” said Cameron.

“Harry Perryman’s an important player for us so it’s great to welcome him back alongside local boy Kieren Briggs who gets his first chance to play in front of a home crowd at GIANTS Stadium.

“We’re starting to see a fair bit of competition for spots which is a good thing but unfortunately that sees Lachie Ash and Jake Stein miss out but we’ve got no doubt they’ll keep putting their case forward week after week.

“It’s been a month since our last game at GIANTS Stadium and this is a massive game for both clubs so we’re looking forward to a big contest on Saturday night.”

The GIANTS take on Carlton on Saturday night at GIANTS Stadium with live coverage from 7.25pm nationally on the Seven Network and Fox Footy.
