More footy fans are choosing to travel by ACTION bus to see the Giants play at Star Track Oval and it’s no wonder, because travelling to the game by bus is absolutely free.

Numbers have grown steadily since the start of the season when 760 travelled to the NAB pre-season game from the Civic and Woden interchanges and more than 850 made the return trip.

These numbers were more than doubled for the recent GWS-St Kilda match when around 1800 travelled to the match on the free ACTION services and a similar number made the return trip.

Coinciding with the increased number of patrons using the buses, there has also been a significant decrease in the number of parking infringement notices issued.

From a peak of 183 notices issued during the cricket One Day International, this figure fell to 133 for the NAB match and to 44 for the GWS-St Kilda game.

If you have a ticket to the Giants-Suns match on Saturday, then all you need to do is show your ticket when you board any ACTION bus and you will travel for free both to and from the ground.

Catch an ACTION bus from anywhere in Canberra to the Woden or City Bus Stations, and then jump on a free shuttle service and it will take you straight to Star Track Oval.

From 12 noon shuttle buses will leave every 30 minutes from platform 3 at the City Bus Station and from platform 10 at the Woden Bus Station.

After the match, the free shuttle services will operate from the eastern side of the oval and take passengers back to Woden and Civic.

Catching the bus will save you the stress of finding a parking space and also from being fined should you park illegally.

The free travel was also popular with league fans last Friday night when almost 3,500 went to the game by bus and 4.200 made the return trip.
