Your one-stop shop to get involved as the GIANTS take on St Kilda for the first time in the competition’s history this Saturday.
Where and When: RSEA Park, Saturday March 13 at 3:10pm
Tickets: All AFLW matches are ticketed in 2021 and all attendees must obtain a ticket in advance of the match via the applicable vendor. This includes juniors under the age of 18, as well as GIANTS AFLW Members. GIANTS AFLW Memberships only include free entry to GIANTS home matches; as this weekend is a St Kilda home match any members wishing to attend will need to purchase a ticket.
Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased via Ticketmaster.
Last time they met: The GIANTS and St Kilda have no history, with the two teams having never played each other before. The Melbourne-based side only entered the competition in 2020 and were in a different conference to the GIANTS in their inaugural season.
TV and Online: All AFLW matches are available live on Foxtel, Kayo, the AFLW Online site, AFL Telstra TV App and on the AFLW and AFL Official Apps. GIANTS matches are also broadcast live into NSW and the ACT free-to-air on 7mate.
What it means for the GIANTS: A chance of back-to-back finals appearance still remains for the GIANTS if they win all three of their remaining games. The GIANTS remain in 10th position for another week on equal points with the Saints. After back-to-back wins at Blacktown in rounds three and four, the GIANTS have struggled to hit the scoreboard and have gone down to competition heavyweights the Bulldogs and the Lions in recent weeks.
Where’s the opposition at: St Kilda sit just above the GIANTS based on percentage, having also claimed two wins from their six matches so far this season. They started their campaign with an impressive win against the Western Bulldogs but have since struggled to find form, apart from a victory over the winless Cats in round four. The Saints come off a 44-point defeat at the hands of the Demons last weekend.
The number: 3. Both teams average three goals a game based on the current 2021 AFLW statistics. Therefore, whichever team can capitalise on their inside-50 opportunities and convert their goals will be best placed to take the four points.
In the mix: Regular inclusions Louise Stephenson and Rebecca Privitelli will be looking to make a return this week after being omitted last week. Nicola Barr will miss the remainder of the home and away season due to a finger injury sustained in Saturday’s match against the Lions.
