A suite of blockbuster games in front of home fans in Sydney and Canberra headlines the GIANTS’ 2021 AFL fixture.
The AFL today released full details of the opening six rounds of the 2021 AFL Season, with timeslot flexibility held for the remaining rounds (7 to 23).
GIANTS Stadium is set to host big Victorian clubs Essendon, Richmond, Carlton, Hawthorn and cross-town rivals Swans, while Friday night football returns to Canberra in 2021.
Games at Manuka Oval in front of our ACT-based members will resume in round three against Melbourne, before a Friday night blockbuster against fierce rivals the Western Bulldogs in round six.
A clash against 2020 Preliminary finalists Port Adelaide in round 20 completes the Canberra fixture.
As revealed on Sunday, the GIANTS will open their season at GIANTS Stadium against St Kilda on Sunday, March 21.
This will be the first of three Sunday games to start the season and one of two games on the Seven Network within the first six weeks.

The GIANTS have been scheduled to play reigning Premier Richmond twice, as well as Melbourne, Carlton, Essendon and the Swans who will all be pushing for a return to the finals in 2021.
GIANTS members and supporters right around the country will have the opportunity to see their team in person with the GIANTS playing once in Western Australia (round 2), South Australia (round 7), Queensland (round 11) and Tasmania (round 13) as well as six games in Victoria.
The GIANTS have been allocated two games at the MCG as well as three games at Marvel Stadium and a much-anticipated trip to Geelong to take on Jeremy Cameron and the Cats in round 21.
With the AFL season less that 90 days away, GIANTS Chief Executive David Matthews said the fixture will fill the Orange Army with a great sense of anticipation ahead of the 2021 season.
“It’s been a difficult year for everyone and we are excited about resuming home games in Sydney and Canberra in front of our passionate members,” said Mr Matthews.
“This fixture will allow our members to see some of the biggest and best teams up close at GIANTS Stadium and Manuka Oval.
“With the entire fixture for March and April released today, we will continue to work closely with the AFL to give our members as much notice as possible of the dates and time slots of the remaining home and away games.
“2021 will be our 10th season in the AFL competition, providing the perfect opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve come over the past decade and celebrate everything we’ve achieved so far.
“We thank all our members who’ve already re-committed and encourage those that haven’t as yet to do so ahead of what’s promising to be another big year for the club both on and off the field.”
