Phil Davis faces a fitness test ahead of Thursday night’s Sydney Derby after positive news on a knee injury sustained in the win over the Bombers.
Davis came from the field in the third quarter after landing awkwardly on his knee in a marking contest.
He returned to play out the game and thankfully scans on Saturday revealed only minor damage.
“Phil’s not going too bad, he’s just done a little bit of damage to his medial ligament in his left knee but structurally he’s all ok,” said GIANTS Head of Medical Cullan Ball.
“He’s a little bit sore but improving day by day and we’ll see how he goes in the next couple of days and see if we can get him up in time for the game.
“He’s going to have to be able to do the main training session. If he can get through that he looks good and feels good then we’ll make him available.
There were no other injuries out of the game.
Defender Matt Buntine will be available for selection this week after overcoming a quad injury, while Toby Greene is aiming for a return against the West Coast Eagles in round 13.
“Toby’s not going to play this week,” Ball said.
“He’s progressing well. He’s doing everything we’re asking of him and more and we’re expecting him to be ready for the game after the Swans.”
The GIANTS take on the Swans in round 12 at Optus Stadium on Thursday night.
