A fit, fresh Toby Greene is ready to take his show on the road as the GIANTS prepare for a crucial block of games away from home.

The star forward kicked five goals in a match-winning performance to inspire the GIANTS to a 12-point victory over an undermanned Richmond side at GIANTS Stadium on Friday night.

"It was good to get involved. I wasn't happy that Leon rested me last week, so I was feeling pretty fresh," Greene said with a smile.

The victory snapped a two-game losing streak ahead of a month on the road that features clashes against Gold Coast (Metricon Stadium), Essendon (Metricon) and Sydney (Optus Stadium).

Those consecutive losses to ladder leaders Port Adelaide and Brisbane saw the GIANTS fall to 13th place on the ladder with three wins and four losses after seven rounds.

"As a team we were out of form, and a few of us are out of form as well," Greene admitted.

"It happens every year. There are always some honest conversations throughout the year, even if it's just a little pick-me-up. A lot of us responded and I guess we had to.

"We made a lot of mistakes ourselves so we've still got heaps to work on, heaps to build on, but it's an important win against a good side and we'll look to build on it."

Greene mostly lined up in the forward line against the Tigers but had an impact all over the ground with 18 disposals, including a crucial moment in the final quarter when Richmond had locked the ball in their half.

As the GIANTS tried to find a way out of defence, Greene took responsibility across half-back and claimed a strong mark to ease the pressure.

"We struggled to get the ball out of our defensive 50 for little periods of the game," he said.

"I felt reasonably fresh because we weren't running the ball, it was just going back into their 50 and putting our backs under pressure.

"When you gotta go, you gotta go."
