The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS have included four players in its 25 man squad to play Melbourne at the MCG this Sunday.
Ruckman Jonathan Giles is back after a week off with a calf strain, while Jack Hombsch, Nathan Wilson and Will Hoskin-Elliot have all been named in the squad following strong performances for the UWS GIANTS in the NEAFL.
WATCH KEVIN SHEEDY RUN THROUGH HIS SIDE:
Sam Schulz is out of the side after suffering a corked calf against Richmond at Skoda Stadium last Saturday.
Head Coach Kevin Sheedy said that GIANTS were looking forward to heading to Melbourne to play on the MCG for the first time.
“This will be an exciting opportunity for many of our young players who will not have had the privilege of playing on the MCG before,” said Sheedy.
“I’m pleased to see Jonathan Giles back in the side after a week on the sidelines. We’ve only seen him and Brogan play together sporadically so I’m looking forward to seeing how they play.
“Wilson and Hoskin-Elliott have been pushing for selection for a number of weeks with their performances for the UWS GIANTS, and Jack Hombsch has come back well from his shoulder injury, getting a few games under his belt in the NEALF. He’s fit and ready to go.
“Obviously this week is a big game for not only Tom Scully but also James McDonald who will be taking on the club he captained and played 251 games for.
“We’re looking forward to a tough match. We played very well against Richmond last week and hoping to continue that form with another strong performance against the Demons.”
