Greater Western Sydney GIANTS young gun Dom Tyson has echoed the excitement and anticipation inside the GIANTS camp as they head in to their first ever match at the newly re-developed SKODA Stadium on Saturday night.
The young GIANTS will take on the Bombers this weekend when Head Coach Kevin Sheedy takes on the club he coached for 27 years for the first time.
Tyson said that the squad, who has travelled for the last five weeks in a row, is well aware of the challenge that lies ahead and is looking forward to testing themselves against tough opponents at home.
“We’re excited to play Essendon this week and for our first game at our new Stadium.
“The bombers are obviously in pretty good form, they are sitting third on the ladder so we definitely wont underestimate them.
“Saturday is going to be a tough game they have a lot of players who are in good form.”
Tyson said that the GIANTS are looking forward to running out on their $65 million dollar re-developed home, which boasts the largest in-stadia video screen and 25,000 seats.
“It’s something we are very excited about and will be a landmark day for everyone involved in SKODA Stadium.
“It will be great to say that we’ve got a stadium that we can call home for a long time now and hopefully we can build a culture there and it will become a fortress for us in time.”
The GIANTS hope to attract a crowd of 20,000 spectators on Saturday night, the largest since the club’s first ever AFL game against the Sydney Swans in Round 1.
“It would be great to see all our supporters there and to have a big crowd with lots of orange in our new home.”
