With the release of the 2013 NEAFL fixture, the UWS GIANTS will kick off the season by taking on cross-town rivals the Sydney Swans, at ANZ Stadium in Round Two on March 30.
 
This match is the curtain raiser for Round One of the Toyota AFL Premiership season, which is the Sydney Derby between the GWS GIANTS and the Sydney Swans.
 
UWS GIANTS Coach Brett Hand said the side was particularly looking forward to playing four big matches at Blacktown International Sportspark against tough opponents such as the Sydney Swans, Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast SUNS.
 
“We’re particularly pleased to be able to bring some big games to Blacktown. There will obviously be some quality players running around for the other AFL clubs and we think it’s a great opportunity for our fans to see some exciting football,” Hand said.
 
“Our young players will certainly be challenged throughout the season as we take on the Swans four time though out the year, as well the Suns on three occasions and the Lions twice.
 
“We will travel nine times this year, which is a great experience for the players. We’re particularly looking forward to getting back to Wagga Wagga in round four to take on Ainslie.”
 
The UWS GIANTS will play in seven curtain raiser matches to Toyota AFL premiership games in 2013, at grounds including the SCG, ANZ Stadium and Manuka Oval.
