The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS will be searching for their third win of the season when they take on Melbourne at Manuka Oval on Saturday to avoid this year’s wooden spoon.

The young GIANTS will be looking for revenge after going down to Melbourne by 78 points at the MCG in Round 13.

Head Coach Kevin Sheedy said that his side was thrilled to be playing in Canberra for the third time this season, the site of the club’s historic first win against the Gold Coast SUNS in Round 7.

"It's great to be back at Manuka, we had our first win here and hopefully we can get another one tomorrow,” Sheedy said.

The veteran coach praised GIANTS Co-Captain Luke Power and joked that tomorrow could mark two significant milestones in the AFL if it snowed at Manuka.

"Luke Power has been tremendous for this football club and it's great to see him get to this milestone.," Sheedy said.

"He could be the first ever AFL player to play his 300th game in Canberra.

"This could also be the first ever game played in the snow. I've never coached or played in a game that snows so hopefully it does.”

Sheedy said that while the GIANTS have had a number of injury concerns late in the season, it offered a number of youngsters a chance to step up to AFL level and gain valuable experience as their debut year comes to a close.

"We've had some injuries but that gives a kid like Nick Haynes a chance to come back in to the side.

"We've come a hell of a long way in 20 matches."
