GIANTS Head Coach Kevin Sheedy has attended the Manchester Derby as he prepares to meet Sir Alex Ferguson.

Sheedy and GIANTS CEO David Matthews watched Manchester United defeat Manchester City 3-2 in an action packed match at Etihad Stadium.

Sheedy was interviewed pitch side before the match by Fox Sports before taking his seat among the capacity crowd at City's home ground.

"It was a fantastic experience to watch a local derby as big as this and gives us a lot of food for thought as we try to build a similar rivalry with the Swans in Sydney," Sheedy said.

"Unfortunately the match was marred by a nasty incident involving a fan but the noise, colour and passion are all part of what makes this such a big occasion."

Sheedy is due to meet Sir Alex Ferguson tomorrow as part of a fact finding mission to one of the world's most famous sporting clubs.

During his visit to the UK, Sheedy has also attended a coaching forum organised by AFL Europe, met potential club sponsors and M&C Saatchi Sports and Entertainment which is working on a brand campaign for the GIANTS.

He is also due to visit the South East London GIANTS, one of a number of AFL clubs around the world which have now taken the GIANTS name.
