GIANTS star Toby Greene is expected to line up for Friday night football at GIANTS Stadium as he recovers from shin soreness.
Head of Medical Cullan Ball said Greene should be all cleared to return after missing Saturday’s clash with the Brisbane Lions.
“Toby just pulled up a little bit sore in his shin after main training last week and just didn’t quite come good in time for the game,” Ball said.
“We expect he’ll be fine for this week, as long as he trains fully he’ll be good to go.”
There were no new injuries out of the loss to the Lions with defender Sam Taylor returning to the club this week.
The 21-year-old ended up in hospital with septic arthritis that developed in his pelvis and ankle.
Ball said: “Sam’s back in at the club now, he’s still on crutches intermittently and he’s got a couple of weeks of antibiotics to go.
“He’ll start with some easy cross-training and then he’ll progress to an easy run.
“We’ll bring him up as his symptoms allow. We’ll see how he progresses over the next few weeks and that should give us an idea about how long we expect him to miss.”
Meanwhile, draftee Tom Hutchesson will play his first game in GIANTS colours since early March as he returns in a practice match against the Hawks after recovering from a hamstring injury.
“We’re really excited for ‘Hutch’ and to see how he goes,” Ball said.
“He’s all good and completed his rehab really well. He’s excited, as we are as well.”
