Greater Western Sydney GIANTS ruckman Dean Brogan has been named to play his first match since round eight against Essendon at ŠKODA Stadium this Saturday.
The 34-year old has been hampered by a back injury, but returns to the side after playing for the UWS GIANTS in the NEAFL last week.
Brogan is one of seven changes, with Taylor Adams returning from suspension and Toby Greene, Adam Tomlinson, Zac Williams, Mark Whiley and Gerald Ugle recalled.
Midfielder Rhys Palmer will miss the match due to a foot injury, while Dom Tyson, Shaun Edwards, Will Hoskin-Elliott, Aidan Corr, Setanta O’hAilpin and Jono O’Rourke have been omitted.
Saturday’s match will be the final time GIANTS Head Coach Kevin Sheedy coaches against Essendon, the club he led for 27 years, winning four premierships.
Sheedy says it’s a big challenge this week at ŠKODA Stadium up against another top four side.
“We were very disappointing last week (against the Sydney Swans), and it was a very disappointing result,” said Sheedy.
“It’s most important that we really play well up here at ŠKODA Stadium against the Bombers.
“We’ve brought in some experience with Dean Brogan back in the ruck, it will be great to have Taylor Adams and Toby Greene return to the midfield, and Williams and Ugle will add some pace.”
“The Bombers are in good form, but we’re looking for a really competitive match and we’re going out there to win it,” he said.
