Greater Western Sydney GIANTS Co-Captain Callan Ward praised the efforts of number one draft pick, Lachie Whitfield after Round 2 of the NAB Cup.
Speaking exclusively to GIANTS TV after the GIANTS clash with the Bribane Lions, Ward said that Whitfield was already showing tremendous promise on the field in his second game of AFL.
"Whitfield was one player that really impressed me. On the wings he just knows how to find the ball. He's really fit, he can run and he's smart with the ball.
"As a team, I thought we did a few really good things tonight. I think that our consistency across the game was good up until three quarter time when we dropped away again which was disappointing," Ward said.
The GIANTS eventually went down to Brisbane by three points on Saturday night but have quickly shifted their focus to Friday's night's Round 3 clash against Essendon.
In an historic first for Canberra, the GIANTS and Bombers will play the first ever AFL game under the new lights at Manuka Oval. The match will form part of the Cenetenary Celebrations in the ACT over the weekend.
"It will be a big game for us down there. We love playing in Canberra amongst all the fans that we have down there. Hopefully we can get a good crowd," he said.
