The AFL Japan season has come to a close with the support of the Greater Western Sydney GIANTS.

The GIANTS have helped grow the game in Japan in recent years by donating signed jumpers and having GIANTS players record congratulations messages for the award winners at their annual end of season function.

Michito Sakaki from AFL Japan has also visited the GIANTS’ Learning Life Centre at Sydney Olympic Park to learn more about Australia’s game.

The AFL Japan Grand Final was last month won by the Tokyo Goannas who beat the minor premiers Tokyo Bay Suns in a nail-biter.

The Goannas trailed the Suns all day, before kicking four goals in the final term to win by two points, 10.8.68 to 10.6.66.

While there wasn’t a GIANTS team in the AFL Japan competition in 2015, there are many other club wearing the orange and charcoal proudly right around the world.

Other affiliated clubs include the Dongguan GIANTS (China), Maharashtra GIANTS (India), South East London GIANTS (England), the North Leinster GIANTS (Ireland), the Zaprude GIANTS (Croatia) and the Skane GIANTS (Sweden).
