The AFL Commission has praised the GIANTS as they inspected the club's new training and administration centre at Sydney Olympic Park.
AFL Chairman Mike Fitzpatrick and commissioners Sam Mostyn, Paul Bassat and Andrew Demetriou visited the facility before the GIANTS' final home match against Richmond at SKODA Stadium.
Members of the GIANTS' Board including Chairman Tony Shepherd and the AFL and GIANTS executives teams were also in attendance as well as Head Coach Kevin Sheedy and Senior Assistant Coach Leon Cameron.
The club's new training ground Tom Wills Oval was officially opened in May while the rest of the centre is expected to be completed later this year.
Speaking before the match at SKODA Stadium, AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou praised the GIANTS as they approached the end of their second year in the competition.
He pointed to the club's membership of 12,705, average home crowds in excess of 10,000, its new training centre and the re-signing of a number of young stars such as Lachie Whitfield as proof the GIANTS were making good progress.
"From an AFL Commission's perspective we are really, really pleased with the way they are tracking," Demetriou said. "They are ticking lots and lots of boxes. It's not without its challenges going forward but we always said this was a generational decision."
