Before Toby Greene was a GIANT, he found himself spending more time than most in the principal’s office.

The cheeky GIANTS midfielder, who admits to being the class-clown in school, said he had a knack for getting up to mischief.

“I thought I was pretty well-behaved at school but no one else seems to agree with me,” Greene said.

“Actually come to think of it I was a bit of a trouble maker so I probably deserved it.

“I was always kicking a footy and mucking around so that got me into a bit of strife from time to time.

Greene said his oldest footy memory was watching Matthew Lloyd kick his 100th goal at the MCG during the 2000 season.

“That was pretty special and something I’ll never forget,” he said.

Greene was presented a number of awards at the club’s inaugural best and fairest night including runner-up in the Kevin Sheedy Medal, the Member’s Choice Award and the Rising Star Award.

The GIANTS selected Greene with pick number 11 in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft.

‘Before they were GIANTS’ is a series of stories that showcase the lives of players before they became professional footballers.
