Like you, we are proud of the way our players responded at the MCG yesterday.  While disappointed we didn’t win, it was a gutsy four quarter effort against the reigning premiers Hawthorn.

The GIANTS stood tall and Callan Ward set the tone with his comment in the lead-up: "If I was to choose a team to play against after two huge defeats I’d choose Hawthorn".

While all sides will have their ups and downs, we must strive to bring that hard, competitive edge to every game. If we do that, we know the wins will come.

Our Co-Captain and the players embraced the challenge and we need to embrace the expectation that comes with being a part of the AFL. When we fail to meet expectation we must also be prepared to face scrutiny.  And last week we did.

We know our fans and corporate and community partners understand the challenges and opportunities in expanding the game into Western Sydney and Canberra.  We also know we are building something special and this is a happy and united club on an exciting journey.

We remain focused and this was evident by the composure shown by Leon Cameron and his coaches in the lead-up to yesterday’s game. They remained calm and confident in their plan and the players responded accordingly.

We now look forward to playing Essendon at Spotless Stadium this Saturday night. It will be great to play under lights at one of the best AFL stadiums in Australia and we look forward to seeing  you there.

Thanks again for your support.
