It’s a big week for new GIANTS ruckman Dawson Simpson.
Ahead of starting training at his new club on Monday, Simpson and his partner Allira have welcomed a baby girl, Isla Rose, into the world.
It’s the couple's first child with Allira and Isla both doing well.
The young GIANTS have very few players with children, with Steve Johnson (who also starts training on Monday) the only other player with kids.
Simpson joined the GIANTS as a unrestricted free-agent during last months trade period and will add some extra depth to the GIANTS' ruck stocks.
With 28 AFL games behind him, the 26-year old will reunite with former Geelong teammate Shane Mumford at the GIANTS.
He’ll also join young ruckman Tom Downie and Rory Lobb who got valuable AFL experience late in 2015 when Mumford went down with injury.
Simpson and Johnson will commence training alongside the likes of Callan Ward, Heath Shaw, Ryan Griffen, Shane Mumford and Phil Davis on Monday.
