With the GIANTS set to take on the Western Bulldogs in Canberra, we take a look at the key stats that have the club up with the best in the competition after three rounds.
After three rounds of the 2014 AFL season the GIANTS head the league in several key statistics:
• The GIANTS lead the competition in hit-outs (193), clearances (153) and tackles (272).
• The GIANTS have been dominant at stoppages and ferocious when the opposition has the football.
• New recruit Shane Mumford lead the AFL in hit-outs with 151 over the first three games including 60 against Melbourne
• Mumford also shares the lead in tackles at the club, along with midfielder Adam Treloar (24 each).
• On average the GIANTS have been laying 90.7 tackles per game – 11 more than the next best team.
• GIANTS co-captain Callan Ward and fellow midfielder Stephen Coniglio are equal-second in the league for clearances this season, sitting just behind Geelong captain, Joel Selwood.
• The GIANTS are averaging 15 more clearances and 30 more tackles compared to the 2013 season
• 2013 All Australian full forward Jeremy Cameron needs two more goals to bring up 100 goals for the GIANTS
