Our Season Summary looks back at how each GIANTS player fared during the 2015 AFL season.
Name: Adam Kennedy
Number: 40
2015 Games: 7 AFL, 13 NEAFL
AFL Fantasy Average: 57
Awards: Nil
Background: Adam Kennedy joined the GIANTS from the Western Jets in 2011 after being overlooked in the 2010 draft. The defender made his AFL debut in Round 1, 2012.
Best Game: AFL Round 22 v Carlton - 22 touches, 8 marks, 2 inside-50s.
Summary: It was a somewhat turbulent season for Kennedy who produced some good football in the NEAFL but found it hard to consistently hold a spot in the GIANTS’ senior side. A reliable small defender, Kennedy drifted into the midfield at times for the UWS GIANTS and worked hard to further improve his running defensive game. The 23-year-old had a great finish to the season, featuring in the UWS GIANTS’ best players in three consecutive games before earning a senior re-call for the GIANTS’ last two matches.
Pat On The Back: Despite being in and out of the senior side, Kennedy never dropped his head and was rewarded for his consistency on several occasions.
What They Said: “Kennedy was clearly one of our best players. He was defensively strong, didn’t get beaten in one on ones, carried the ball well and ran into space well," - NEAFL Coach Brett Hand.
Look Ahead: With more than 60 AFL games experience, Kennedy understands the importance of having a solid pre-season. Expect the hard-working defender to push for a starting position in Round 1, 2016.
