Our Season Summary looks back at how each GIANTS player fared during the 2015 AFL season.
Name: Will Hoskin-Elliott
Number: 33
2015 Games: 11 AFL, 6 NEAFL
AFL Fantasy Average: 50
Awards: NEAFL Goal of the Year
Background: Hoskin-Elliott was selected with pick four in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft and made his debut against the Swans in Round 1, 2012.
Best Game: AFL Round 11 v Collingwood - 16 touches, 8 marks and 4 tackles
Summary: It was a rough start for Hoskin-Elliott who hurt his right shoulder in the GIANTS’ final NAB Challenge game and was expected to miss 4-6 weeks. A solid rehabilitation campaign saw the 22-year-old return ahead of schedule but he was unable to break into the senior side until Round Five. Usually dangerous around goal, Hoskin-Elliott had a lean year in front of the sticks, kicking three majors compared to 26 in 2014. His season finished early after straining his knee against Sydney in Round 21.
Pat On The Back: Although it wasn’t his best season, Hoskin-Elliott showed a lot of faith in his ability and in the club, inking a contract extension until at least the end of 2017.
What They Said: “We’re thrilled Will has re-signed with the GIANTS. He’s had to overcome a couple of injury concerns this season but is an important player and we’re delighted he wants to be part of the GIANTS.” - Coach Leon Cameron.
Look Ahead: Expect the dangerous forward to return to his best form in 2016 after having an injury-interrupted season this year. Hoskin-Elliott is a crucial cog in the GIANTS’ forwardline and will work hard over the off-season to get his body right.
