The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS have farewelled Kevin Sheedy at their match against Essendon at Spotless Stadium.
Players from both clubs formed a guard of honour for Sheedy before the game as he walked out on to the ground for the last time as a GIANT.
After five years with the GIANTS, Sheedy is returning to Melbourne to take up a new role with Essendon, a team he coached to four premierships over 27 years before becoming the inaugural coach of the GIANTS.
This week Sheedy became the first Life Member of the GIANTS in recognition of his contribution in building the AFL’s 18th club.
GIANTS Chief Executive David Matthews said: “Kevin Sheedy has been instrumental in building the GIANTS in Western Sydney and this was another opportunity to acknowledge his contribution.
"He has been simply outstanding and we wish him and the family all the very best and they know they will always welcome at this club."
