Former Sydney and St Kilda forward Adam Schneider has joined the GIANTS’ coaching staff as NEAFL Coach.
The 33-year old retired from the AFL at the end of 2015 after 228 games including the Swan’s 2005 Premiership victory.
After being an important mentor at St Kilda late in his playing career, Schneider moved into coaching in 2017 coaching Beaumaris in the VAFA premier division.
GIANTS General Manager Football Wayne Campbell said he’s delighted to have Schneider join the club.
“Adam has a sharp footy brain and a real passion for the game,” said Campbell.
“Having grown up in Wagga Wagga and having lived in Sydney during his playing career, Adam understands the challenges and opportunities for the GIANTS and we think he’ll be a good fit for our club.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming Adam and his family to the club in the coming weeks.
Schneider said he’s looking forward to taking the next step in his coaching career.
“The GIANTS are a club I’ve admired from a distance and I’m excited to join the coaching group working under Leon Cameron,” said Schneider.
“There are a number of impressive young players on the list that I believe I can help develop and prepare for the rigorous of playing in the AFL.”
Schneider replaces Brad Miller as NEAFL coach with Miller stepping into an Assistant coaching role looking after the GIANTS’ forward line.
