Midfielder Dylan Shiel will have to prove his fitness ahead of the GIANTS clash with the West Coast Eagles at Spotless Stadium on Saturday.
The midfielder missed the GIANTS’ eight point win over the Suns due to groin soreness and will be looking to prove he’s fit and firing at training on Wednesday.
Speaking to Fox Sports News on Tuesday morning, GIANTS Coach Leon Cameron said Shiel will be given until the main training session to prove his fitness.
“He’s had a really good start to the week, but he has to get through training on Wednesday,” Cameron said.
“It’s one of those things that you don’t want hanging around at the back end of the year.
“We’re hoping that he will train on Wednesday and put his hand up to play on Saturday.”
Defender Tim Mohr picked up a corked thigh during the WSU GIANTS’ NEAFL win last Saturday, but is expected to make a full recovery.
The GIANTS have been buoyed by the return of injured trio Jack Steele (Hand), Jacob Hopper (Back) and Aidan Corr (Ankle).
Corr played a full game in the NEAFL having not playing since the GIANTS’ round three loss to Sydney.
“He was hard and tough at the contest and he’s really physical with his opponents,” NEAFL Coach Brad Miller said.
“It was just great to see him put four quarters together and see him come off with a smile on his face.”
Hopper and Steele were both impressive in their NEAFL returns, being named amongst the WSU GIANTS’ best in a 111-point win over Gold Coast’s reserves.
