Co-captain Phil Davis will miss this week’s game against the Suns with a hamstring strain suffered late in the GIANTS’ win over Fremantle in Perth.

The 25-year-old, who has played every game this year, picked up the minor strain in the final quarter of Saturday’s game and is expected to miss the next 2-3 weeks.

Small forward Devon Smith will undergo surgery today to tidy up cartilage in his knee that has seen the 22-year-old play just four games this year.

He will be sidelined for the next 8-10 weeks as he rehabilitates from surgery.

Young defender Caleb Marchbank has recovered well from the ankle injury he sustained in round two and is ahead of schedule after it was initially expected the 19-year-old would miss 6-8 weeks with the grade two syndesmotic injury.

Marchbank will undergo a fitness test later this week and could play a half for the WSU GIANTS in the NEAFL on Saturday.

Jacob Hopper (face), Matthew Flynn (ankle) and Sam Reid (hamstring) are also expected to be available for selection this week.

Aidan Corr (ankle), Will Hoskin-Elliott (quad) and Ryan Griffen (back) continue their recovery from their respective injuries with the trio all 3-4 weeks away from selection.
