The GIANTS will host some of the AFL's biggest clubs at Spotless Stadium during the 2017 Toyota AFL Premiership season.
Collingwood, Richmond, Essendon, Geelong and the Swans were all named today to play at Spotless Stadium next year in a big win for AFL fans in Western Sydney.
With Easter falling later in 2017, GIANTS fans in Sydney will get an early look at their team with a showdown against the Gold Coast Suns scheduled for Spotless Stadium in Round 2.
Next year five games will be played at Spotless Stadium in the popular Saturday twilight time slot with blockbusters against top four teams Geelong (Round 15) and Sydney (Round 17) taking centre stage on Saturday night.
Similar to the 2016 fixture, the GIANTS final two Premiership season games at Spotless Stadium will be against both West Australian clubs.
The much anticipated first Sydney Derby of the season will take place at the SCG in Round 5 on Saturday, April 22 (7.25pm).
GIANTS Chief Executive David Matthews said Sydney based fans have plenty to look forward to in 2017.
“We think this is a terrific fixture for our fans with some of the biggest clubs in the country coming to Spotless Stadium," Mr Matthews said.
“Fans have had to wait until Round 6 to see their team at Spotless Stadium over the past two seasons, so it’s great to be able to host the Gold Coast Suns in Round 2 before the venue is prepared for the Easter Show.
“We are delighted to have a number of the completion's biggest clubs in Collingwood, Richmond, Essendon and Geelong, as well as our cross-town rivals the Swans, playing at Spotless Stadium in what will be very popular games.
“With sell out games against the Swans and the Bulldogs at Spotless Stadium in 2016, we’re looking forward to continued attendance growth next year off the back of these high drawing games.”
