The GIANTS’ 2025 VFL fixture has been released, with the club set to play in two huge AFL curtain raisers as well as a special home game in Albury.

The GIANTS’ VFL side - often filled with a host of AFL talent - will kickstart its 2025 campaign with a pair of back-to-back home games against Williamstown on Saturday, March 29 and Sandringham on Sunday, April 6. 

The season opener against the Seagulls will comes in round two of the VFL season, with the GIANTS given the bye in round one.

The GIANTS’ VFL side will hit the road in round four as they take on the Demons at Casey Fields on Saturday, April 19.

They’ll then return home in round five for a big ANZAC Day weekend clash with Footscray at Blacktown International SportsPark on Sunday, April 27.

The VFL side’s first meeting with the crosstown rivals comes in round six, with the GIANTS and the Swans set for a huge VFL twilight clash on Sunday, May 4 at the SCG following a Derby between the two AFL sides.

One of the GIANTS’ two AFL curtain raisers will follow in round seven, with the orange tsunami set to roll into Geelong for a VFL match-up at GMHBA Stadium on Sunday, May 11 as part of the double header.

In round nine the GIANTS will descend on Albury to host a home game at Albury Sports Ground against Port Melbourne. The relocated fixture is part of the club’s recent initiative of creating a VFL hub in the region.

Round 10 will feature the club’s second AFL curtain raiser as the GIANTS welcomes the Tigers to town for a meeting at ENGIE Stadium ahead of the AFL match between the GIANTS and Adam Kingsley’s former side.

While the full schedule for round 1-13 have been released, only the match-ups for rounds 14-21 have been announced, with the venues and timings of those rounds to be confirmed later in the year.

Other highlights of the GIANTS’ 2025 VFL fixture are a home clash with the Swans in round 18 and an away trip to take on the reigning premiers Werribee in round 15.

GIANTS Executive General Manager of Football, Jason McCartney, shared his excitement for the upcoming VFL season.

“Wayne Cripps [GIANTS VFL head coach] has done an excellent job over the past two seasons and we’re excited to see the continued development of our VFL side in 2025,” McCartney said.

“Our VFL program plays a huge role in the success of our AFL program and we’re looking forward to a big 2025 campaign for both programs.

“It’s great to have a game played down in Albury as we look to make a real impact in that community following the introduction of our Albury VFL hub.

“Our VFL squad has been putting in the work across the pre-season and we can’t wait to see them open their season against Williamstown out in Blacktown next month.”
