The GIANTS will open the 2017 Toyota AFL Premiership season with a tough road trip against fellow finalists, the Adelaide Crows.
The match on Sunday March 26 will be the first time the GIANTS have opened their season in Adelaide, having previously only played in Sydney and Melbourne in Round 1.
The game is part of a big opening weekend that will see Carlton and Richmond kick off the season, while Essendon play Hawthorn and reigning premiers the Western Bulldogs take on Collingwood.
With the GIANTS schedule starting in Adelaide, Round 2 could see the GIANTS play a rare early season home game at Spotless Stadium before the venue is transformed for the Easter Show.
Adelaide hasn't been a happy hunting ground for the GIANTS, with the club's first win in South Australia coming in Round 18 of the 2016 season against Port Adelaide.
The GIANTS and Crows only met once in 2016, with Adelaide claiming victory by 22-points in Round 10 at Adelaide Oval.
After a long summer of pre-season training, both teams will be hungry to put 2016 finals losses behind them.
The Crows bowed out in the second week, going down to the Swans at the SCG while the GIANTS will be out to atone for the nail-biting Preliminary Final loss to the Bulldogs.
The Adelaide Oval clash could be the first game for new GIANT Brett Deledio, after the former Richmond star signed with the GIANTS earlier this week.
The rest of the 2017 Toyota AFL Premiership season fixture will be released by the AFL later this month.
