Shane Mumford will miss this week’s Friday night clash against the Western Bulldogs after accepting a one-match sanction for rough conduct.
Mumford was charged by the Match Review Panel with engaging in rough conduct against Melbourne ruckman Max Gawn during the third quarter of Saturday's match against the Demons at UNSW Canberra Oval.
Mumford caught the Demon high with his arm as Gawn lent down to pick up the ball, resulting in a clash to Gawn's head. Gawn suffered no ill-effects and played out the game.
Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from Melbourne, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impact to the head.
The incident was classified as a two-match sanction and Mumford has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enabled him to accept a one-match sanction.
The GIANTS take on the Western Bulldogs at 7:50pm on Friday night at Etihad Stadium with live coverage on 7mate in NSW and the ACT and Channel 7 nationally.
