The GIANTS will unveil their latest draft crop with six teenagers pulling on the GIANTS jumper for the first time in the opening round of the JLT Community Series.
Draftees Tim Taranto (pick 2), Will Setterfield (pick 5), Harry Perryman (pick 14), Isaac Cumming (pick 20), Lachie Tiziani (pick 54) and rookie Zach Sproule will all line up for the GIANTS against West Coast at Narrandera Sports Ground on Saturday.
It’ll also be the first game in GIANTS colours for second-year rookie Daniel Lloyd and new recruit Tendai Mzungu, who arrived from Fremantle over the summer.
The side will be led by young midfield star Josh Kelly, as announced by coach Leon Cameron on Wednesday.
"It's very humbling and extremely exciting, I'm just hanging to get out there and lead our young group on the weekend,” Kelly said.
"It's something I've been working on, with my leadership I've always felt like I've led by example, but being a bit more vocal and instructive out on the field is an area I've been working on, and this will be a good chance to do that.”
Also making his debut is Category B rookie and former Commonwealth Games decathlete Jake Stein who hails from Penrith in Western Sydney.
There’ll still be plenty of familiar faces on the ground with Jonny Patton and Rory Lobb up forward and Adam Tomlinson, Nathan Wilson and Matt Buntine patrolling the backline.
Kelly and local southern NSW boy Matt Kennedy will lead the new GIANTS through the midfield.
There’ll be plenty of support in the crowd for defender Zac Williams and ruckman Matt Flynn who are both returning home to play on their local ground.
Co-captain Callan Ward, forwards Jeremy Cameron and Devon Smith and defender Nick Haynes have been named in the squad but are unlikely to play.
Former Richmond star Brett Deledio (calf), Shane Mumford (elbow) and Steve Johnson (thumb) are all unavailable for selection this week.
The GIANTS take on West Coast at Narrandera Sports Ground on Saturday at 2:05pm with live coverage on Fox Footy (channel 504).
GIANTS members with game access receive free entry (subject to capacity) and general admission tickets are available through Ticketek.
