The GIANTS are pleased to announce that the club has re-signed reigning Gabrielle Trainor Medallist and All-Australian midfielder Jessica Dal Pos ahead of the second NAB AFL Women’s season.
After recruiting former Collingwood vice-captain Alicia Eva in a trade earlier this week, the GIANTS have staved off a number of rival AFLW teams to today re-sign Dal Pos, along with a host of other key GIANTS AFLW players.
After playing every game for the GIANTS in an outstanding first AFLW season this year, Dal Pos averaged 14 disposals per game and finished the second in the competition for tackles and third for clearances.
The 23-year-old was also the club’s only representative in the 2017 Virgin Australia AFLW All-Australian team.
The former Victorian priority selection player stormed home to win the GIANTS’ inaugural Best and Fairest Award, the Gabrielle Trainor Medal, by two votes in the final round.
Vice-captain and marquee player Emma Swanson will also remain a GIANT after putting pen to paper on a new contract, along with fellow West Australian and marquee signing Renee Forth who is looking to make her first appearance in the AFLW competition after a serious knee injury.
Former number one draft pick and NAB AFLW Rising Star nominee Nicola Barr has also re-signed with the club, alongside Victorian Alex Saundry and up-and-coming NSW star Rebecca Beeson.
The club will announce further re-signings in the coming days with the NAB AFL Women’s trade period finishing on Friday, May 26.
