GIANTS forward Toby Greene has been fined by the Match Review Panel and is free to take on the West Coast Eagles at Spotless Stadium on Saturday.
The 23-year-old was reported for rough conduct in Friday night’s win over the Western Bulldogs after his foot made contact with Bulldog Luke Dahlhaus in the third quarter.
The Dogs midfielder left the field under the blood rule but returned to play out the game.
Greene was charged with engaging in misconduct against Dahlhaus. In summary he can accept a $1500 sanction with an early plea. An offence for misconduct is classified as a $2500 sanction, an early plea enables Greene to accept a $1500 sanction.
GIANTS General Manager Football Wayne Campbell said the club has accepted the fine.
“We understand there was a lot of debate about the incident but feel that the MRP has judged it on its merits," Campbell said.
“Toby had his eyes on the ball the whole way and didn’t intend to make high contact with his opponent.
“Toby’s now looking forward to preparing to take on West Coast this weekend.”
The GIANTS beat the Bulldogs by 48 points and return home to Spotless Stadium this Saturday to take on the West Coast Eagles at 4:35pm. Click here for tickets.
