The GIANTS and Geelong face off in a top of the table clash at Spotless Stadium on Saturday night.
With the two sides in good form, we take a look at the stats that could make all the difference once the final siren sounds.
Both sides have been high scoring across the past month with the GIANTS ranked second in the AFL and the Cats ranked fourth.
GIANTS coach Leon Cameron doesn’t think that necessarily means the game will be a high scoring affair.
“Both sides get wary of each other and have plans to stop each other from scoring,” Cameron said on Friday morning.
“I think it’ll be an arm wrestle either way and I don’t think either side will score 100 points.”
Cameron and his coaching staff will also be looking to quell Geelong’s use of handballs and cut down their ability to find the footy.
The Cats have averaged 48.5 more disposals than their opponents and have been winning 11.2 more contested possessions than their opponents over the past month.
They also are a high stoppage team (first in the competition over the past month, averaging 75.5 stoppages per game) which could play into the GIANTS hands.
The GIANTS dominant around the stoppages, leading the competition for clearances over the past month with 11.5 more clearances than the opposition and sit third in the AFL for scoring from stoppage differential (+13pts).
