The GIANTS have officially launched their season in the ACT at a function in Canberra on Wednesday night.

The event saw coach Leon Cameron provide a pre-season update as well as Chairman Tony Shepherd address the room.

2018 is shaping as one of the biggest years yet for the GIANTS in Canberra with four games being played at UNSW Canberra Oval over the next six weeks.

It all starts on Thursday night with the GIANTS playing their first game of the JLT Community Series against Collingwood.

Nine days later the GIANTS AFLW team will host the Western Bulldogs under lights before the AFL season kicks off in Canberra on the last Sunday in March (25th) with the AFL team taking on the Bulldogs.

Just three weeks later (Saturday, April 14), Fremantle will play their first game in the ACT since 2002.

Round 21 will see the GIANTS host one of the biggest games ever to be played in the ACT when 2017 Grand Finalists Adelaide come to town.

It’ll be a Saturday night blockbuster between two of the competitions best teams with the match being broadcast nationally on Channel 7.

After reaching 4,500 ACT members in 2017, the club is confident it can reach 5000 in 2018 as the GIANTS look to reach 25,000 members for the first time.

Also in attendance last night were ACT based GIANTS directors Peter Taylor and Michael Costello, Chief Executive David Matthews and co-captain Callan Ward as well local politicians, members of the ACT based coterie groups the C7, the Territorians and the GIANT Hearts.

A number of partners of the club were also in attendance including Canberra GIANTS Netball, ActewAGL, Canberra Milk, UNSW Canberra, the ACT Government, Projects Assured, McDonalds and Barlens.

The GIANTS would like to thank Farrar Gesini Dunn Lawyers for hosting the event.
